Positive Futures Larne 26th February 2009
Due the recent redundancy announcements in the Larne/East Antrim area the 'Positive Futures Larne' (PFL) event is being planed for 26 February 2009 at The Northern Regional College/Adult Education Centre campus, Pound Street, Larne.

Larne Borough Council/Larne Development Forum, working in partnership with the Department of Employment & Learning and Northern Regional College, is organising PFL to provide advice ,support and guidance to local people who have been made, or are potentially facing, redundancy.

In the face of a difficult and indeed challenging employment market, PFL aims to deliver an upbeat and optimistic message hence the title Positive Futures Larne'.

The overall aim is to do whatever can be done to prepare the citizens of Larne to compete and succeed in their quest to find suitable work.

The event is scheduled for Thursday 26th February from 1:00pm to 7:00pm at the Northern Regional College campus in Larne.

Participating organisations will include; the Council, DEL/Jobs& Benefits Office Staff, Social Security Agency, LEDCOM ( Local Enterprise Agency), Invest NI, Northern Regional College, EGSA, Larne Skills Development and TWL ( Steps to Work contractor).

Pre-publicity for PFL will probably include :

Advertising and press releases, week commencing 9th February and through weeks commencing 16th February and 23rd February

Distribution of flyers and posters through J&BO/SSA offices, LBC facilities, NRC, LEDCOM, library etc.

Information on relevant web-sites including; LBC, DEL, NRC, LEDCOM etc.

The PFL anticipated format is :


12:45pm : Opening/welcome

1:00pm until 7:00pm : Opportunity for visitors to speak one to one with advisors from above organisations

2:00 pm, 4:00pm and 6:00pm : Rolling seminar programme covering :

(1) Presenting yourself/interview skills;
(2) Application Forms/CVs;
(3) Jobsearch Skills

At PFL, visitors will also have the opportunity to search online for job opportunities with assistance from DEL staff

There will also be the opportunity to get assistance with CV preparation

There will be a registration desk and all visitors will be asked to complete an evaluation of the event to help assess its effectiveness and identify possible future employment support requirements

Refreshments will be available at the event
