An exciting new business park for Larne has been officially announced by Ledcom with a sod-cutting ceremony in July 2003. Speaking at the event, the Mayor of Larne, Councillor Bobby McKee said:
"This announcement is an exciting next stage in Ledcom's development - it is indeed an important announcement for the whole Borough of Larne."
Willowbank Business Park will provide high quality business units in landscaped surroundings at Millbrook and will be suitable for a range of business sectors (start-up and growth) including ICT / Software, technology based projects, telecoms / electronics, life and health sciences, specialist services and office accommodation.
The Business Park when completed will be an integrated development which will include business units in a range of sizes, a dedicated Business Support centre and a Technology Incubation Centre. Ledcom is developing a Technology Incubation Support Programme which will assist individuals who wish to start-up and grow new technology based businesses. Support for Willowbank Business Park is coming from the International Fund for Ireland, Larne Borough Council / Larne Development Forum, Invest Northern Ireland and the EU Building Sustainable Prosperity Programme.
Larne Development Partnership through the EU Peace II Programme is assisting the Business Centre, which will incorporate a conference / meeting room and an ICT training suite.
Invest Northern Ireland under the same Programme is assisting the Technology Incubation Centre.
The Willowbank site will provide access to facilities such as, video-conferencing and high-speed broadband internet and natural gas.
